90% of the world’s 700,000,000 t of rice is grown in Asia, where China, India and Indonesia are the largest producers. The Americas grow a further 5% with Africa contributing 2.5%. Europe produces approximately 3,000,000 t of rice, just under 0.5% of total world production.
